Please help up prepare for a surge in calls for help from people like Virginia, who should not be left to face this difficult festive season with multiple sclerosis alone.
As Christmas fast approaches, Multiple Sclerosis Limited needs your help to prepare for a festive season that for some people struggling with multiple sclerosis could be one of the loneliest they’ve ever faced.
With families having been forced apart by lockdowns, border closings, travel restrictions and health concerns, we are predicting a huge increase in demand for help and support from people who simply don’t have the strength to face the run-up to Christmas and the new year alone.
Calls from people like teacher, farmer, mum, carer and all-around human dynamo, Virginia, was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2012. MS Connect helped to give Virginia her life back, and the strength to endure this difficult year. Virginia knows first-hand why it’s vital that we all work together to ensure everyone who is struggling with multiple sclerosis can access this vital service in the run-up to Christmas.
COVID-19 has already contributed to a 30 percent rise in the number of calls to our gateway MS Connect service. But there is every chance that number could be dwarfed in the days ahead, as the summer heat and the stress of coping with the pandemic at Christmas worsens multiple sclerosis symptoms such as extreme fatigue.
To avoid the possibility of people in great need being left to face what lies ahead alone, we absolutely must take whatever steps we can to prepare for the possibility of this influx. And because MS Connect is entirely funded by donations, we are asking our friends, supporters and compassionate people everywhere to donate a gift to help us raise at least $250,000 as soon as possible.
Thank you so much for whatever you can donate after such a difficult year. Please take care of yourself, and have the very happiest Christmas you can.
